During our stay we experienced the Thompson Suite which was unparalleled luxury. The expansive midcentury modern suite features sweeping views through floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a stunning panorama of the Navy Yards neighborhood. we loved enjoying the vibrant energy of the neighborhood from our private balcony.
Inside, the bedroom with a king size bed was an urban sanctuary. We relaxed in the separate living room as if we were home. And the dining table for 4 made the perfect place to have a working lunch. The Thompson Suite truly offers a sophisticated and comfortable retreat in the heart of the city.

Their signature onsite restaurant draws inspiration from traditional American dishes and classic spirit-forward cocktails. Guests can enjoy a true supper house experience at the exceptional Surveyor. After dinner, they can head up to the Rooftop at the Thompson and unwind with 360-degree views of Washington D.C. and the waterfront while sipping craft cocktails and taking in Navy Yard’s lively social scene.
During our stay we did enjoy evening cocktails with friends at the rooftop bar. The terrace offered plenty of plush seating with incredible views of our Nations Capitol.

During our stay we had the opportunity to sit down with Jason Harrison, Hotel Manager at Thompson Washington, D.C. During our sit down we did a deep dive on all things Thompson Hotels, culture, local partnerships, what sets Thompson DC apart from other hotels in the area and the local neighborhood.
Q: How does culture live here at Thompson Washington DC?
A: It starts with us! As individuals and as a team we are immersed in the local community. Connecting with local business, schools, and residents has allowed us to identify where and how we can impact the culture of our community. We discovered that the neighborhood would benefit from a space that creates a platform for the community to present their passions and talents. We host weekly jazz performances by a local musician, we do a seasonal plant and vintage book/record sale from local vendors, and have had conversations recently with a local school in regards to how we can feature the student's art in the building to name a few. Culture Lives Here because we focus on breathing life and adding color to the neighborhood by creating a space for the community.
Q: What makes your hotel different than other hotels in Washington DC?
A: I would be remised if I didn't start with my team. Every day I get to work with people who are truly passionate about going above and beyond for our guests. We pride ourselves on being hospitable not just because it our job, but because that who we are as people. We provide a luxury experience that is approachable and inclusive. We work diligently to foster an environment that allows people to be their authentic self in a luxury environment
Q: What sets the Thompson Hotel brand apart from other luxury hotel brands?
A: What makes us stand out for me amongst other luxury product is what the Thompson Brand does for the senses. The music is lively, the scent is intoxicating, the design is stimulating. The "feel" is truly unique.
Q: What makes the location of your hotel unique and what do you love about the location and neighborhood?
A: Even for me, when I envision Washington DC, I think government buildings, museums, monuments etc. Our hotel is certainly adjacent to those amenities, however what makes us unique is our proximity to the waterfront. The Anacostia River and Park system is just outside of our front doors and truly a gem from an entertainment, recreational, and wellness perspective. I often find guests both starting and ending their days with a peaceful walk along the river.
Q: Can you share any upcoming collaborations or partnerships that will enhance the guest experience at your hotel?
A: Thompson Washington DC will be 1 of 4 Thompson's a part of this year's "Culture Shifters" programming. "Culture Shifters" has fostered partnerships and conversations with people who impact the community through their work. In the past other participating Thompsons have featured artists, musicians, choreographers and brought them into the hotel space for events such as film screenings, fashion shows, etc. We look forward to doing the same with a DC spin! Also be on the lookout for the Thompson DC "Secret Service" series- a hands on multi layered cultural experience that will encompass an experience in the local community and inside of the hotel. We would tell you more, but it's a secret!
